The fate of the VIIII. Legion

Hollywood has made in recent years quite a lot of historical movies on the subject of the Roman Empire, the last three dealing with the »disappearance« of the VIIII. Legion Hispana. The editors of Ancient Warfare Magazine have thus made a decision to forward to the entire public, not just its subscriptors, the article »Fate of the Ninth« by D. B. Campbell (University of Glasgow). The purpose of this article is to highlight the background  of the supposed disappearance of the 9th legion behind Hadrian’s Wall.
