Ancient Roman route calculation

The students and the staff of Stanford University developed a program called ORBIS, which  simulates  the time cost and financial expense associated with a wide range of different types of travel in roman times.
It’s very similar to google maps and viamichelin, yet with a distinctive characteristic: it’s adapted to the environment and features of the world as it looked like almost 2000 years ago.
The model reflects the conditions around 200 CE. We can choose from a variety of options: whether we want to »travel« on land or on open sea, or either as a civilian or as part of the military ecc.
